Cyprus
Southern Cyprus

Between Larnaca und Lemesos, the two biggest towns, you find an extremely diverse coastal region. Particularly the smaller villages a bit further inland sport an irresistible charm. They are the perfect starting points when going on excursions on the island. The excavations at Choriokoita and the nunnery of Agios Georgios Alamanos from the 15th century with its flower and herb gardens are just two attractions. This area is particularly well-suited for the individual traveller planning various holiday activities. Whether you want to relax on a sandy beach, do day trips to explore the island or prefer riding on horseback or bicycle– Southern Cyprus has got it all.

If you prefer reclusiveness, you may wish to hike through the wonderful natural surroundings. You are welcome to familiarise yourself with the traditional handcraft of the people on the island. Production of the famous halloumi cheese is certainly as interesting a process to witness as watching the embroiderers go about their filigree work. Countless little tavernas invite to enter and taste the local specialities. You are well advised to start off with the so-called meze, which means as much as mixture. The meal consists of various dishes and is accompanied by dips, moussaka, tavvas and filled wine leaves. Together with that you will enjoy fresh salad, prepared with the outstanding local olive oil.

Have a good bottle of Cypriot wine to that and your are about to experience a culinary adventure. With each meal you consume a piece of Cyprus.
